BruBrad's National Day Celebration

Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan yang ke-26 Brunei Darussalam

27th February 2010 - On Saturday night, the Brunei Bradford Students' Society held a small celebration in commemoration of Brunei Darussalam's 26 years of independence.

Brunei may have already celebrated the national day on the 23rd February 2010 but due to studies and classes on that date, the students had to postpone the gathering to Saturday.

The President of BruBrad's house was the venue for the patriotic event and students were encouraged to wear casual attire that reflects the Brunei flag which consists of yellow, white, red and black.

Food brought by the students.

The event began by reading a prayer for Brunei's well-being and success before savouring food brought and cooked by the students.

Doa for Brunei's safety and prosperity.

The Brunei Bradford Students' Society is grateful for what the country has given us which is the golden opportunity to expand their knowledge and self-confidence in a foreign country. In return, the students will provide Brunei with the skills acquire from their studies to improve Brunei's state of education, economy and social comfort.

Special Visit from Brunei's High Commissioner

Brunei students with Brunei's High Commissioner and the University's Vice Chancellor

17/02/2010 - A special visit from the Brunei High Commissioner to the University of Bradford. The main aim of the visit was to see the well-beings of Brunei's mature students and their families in Bradford.

Hj Amir bin Pehin Orang Kaya Perkerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman, of the Commissioner's Third Secretary and Ismail bin Adenan, of the Welfare Officer, arrived at the afternoon and went straight for an academic discussion with the university's Dean of Engineering regarding improving the state of Brunei's educational institution especially for ITB.

After the healthy exchange of views, the two representatives were whisked off to meet Mark Cleary, the Vice-Chancellor of Bradford's University and then had a special group photoshoot with the VC and the students in the Atrium.

Chesham Building was the next meeting point for the representatives with Dr. Qi before mingling with the students on their studies and families while enjoying simple refreshments.
