Dear all

Some of you came back to me to say that 2.30 – 4 pm is a problem for you due to tutorials etc. I have therefore changed the time to 4 – 5.30 pm, 2 March. I have also changed the room to D3 (D Floor Foyer) Richmond Building, which will be easier to find.

Hope the changes will make it more convenient for you.

Best regards

Teresa

Event: BruBrad Celebrate Maulud Nabi

Awang Hafiz Yassin leading the Tahlil :)

17/02/2011 - The society held a small get-together to celebrate Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)'s birthday.

Awang Hafiz Yassin started the event by reciting the Surah Yassin, leading the Tahlil and students delivered the Marhaban. The students then proceed to the prayer rooms, to perform the Isya' prayer, provided by the university to accommodate the needs of Muslim students in the university.

The occasion ended with students dining on homemade cuisine cooked by them.

This celebration was proudly published in Brunei's local newspaper; Borneo Bulletin, Media Permata and The Brunei Times. Through this exposure, it will provide future students from Brunei to continue their studies in Bradford University.

13/02/2011 - The Brunei Bradford Students' Society held a friendly netball match with one of their neighbours, BruLeeds.

The netball team from BruLeeds and their supporters came to Bradford and the intense game was held in Grange Interlink.

After an hour of running here and there, passing and stealing the ball, the game ended with BruLeeds as the winner.

Ps: Apologize for the delay.

Dear all

It has been a while since I had the opportunity to meet up with you all, and as yet I have not had the chance to welcome the Bruneian students who arrived in August/September. I would like to invite you all to join me for a few snacks on Wednesday 2 March, Room D01.01 Horton Building 2.30 – 4 pm. Those of you who also have your families here in Bradford are also welcome to bring them along.

I look forward to catching up with as many of you as possible. It would be useful if you could let me know whether or not you are able come along.

Best regards
Teresa

Digital Scrapbook - A Bruneian student in the UK

Share your experience of education in the UK with the British High Commission and you could win an iPhone, iPad or other valuable prizes. The High Commission hopes to entice Bruneian students currently in the UK, or any Bruneian who has studied there, to take part in a competition called ‘The Digital Scrap Book – A Bruneian student in the UK’.

Participants are required to produce a short video (up to three minutes) on their experience of British education, and upload it to the British High Commission’s YouTube Channel. They may interpret the theme in whatever way they wish. Possible approaches include: diary format (“A Day in the Life of a Bruneian student at …” University X); coverage of activities organised by a Bruneian Students Association (outing, sporting event, birthday party or religious festival); interviews with fellow students about campus life, or with members of the university’s International Office.

The idea is to build a collage of moving pictures which portray the experiences of Bruneian students in the UK; and to help the High Commission advise schools, colleges and universities on how to serve their Bruneian customers. So, while the High Commission reserves the right not to select material which is coarse or inappropriate, entrants should not hesitate to include examples of things which could be done better.

Read more on the terms and conditions of the competition.

A Media Conference and official launching was held on Thursday, 18 November 2010
