BruBrad Member Making Brunei Proud

Deenina Salleh with her two projects; 'Breathe' and 'Paper Blooms'.

13th May 2010 - Deenina Salleh, a member of the Brunei Bradford Students' Society and a final year student in the BA Digital Media course, displayed two art projects held by Bradford University's School of Computing, Informatics and Media along with other final year students of the same course.

The exhibition was held at Chesham's Gallery II for sixteen days as the room was filled with students trying to express their thoughts on life and relationships in the form of photography and digital art.

Deenina used her projects especially 'Paper Blooms' to show the power of social networks in helping loved ones stay connected even though they are miles away separated by lands and seas. She advertised 'Paper Blooms' in Facebook and blogspot which resulted in volunteers creating and sending in paper flowers of different and creative designs from UK and Brunei. BruBrad also took part in the project by attending two events hosted by her in the university.

Her second project called 'Breathe' acts as a metaphor for "the grieving of a person trying to hold onto someone or something to a certain period of time, in which time itself cannot be preserved." Deenina used ice to represent time and the flower and leaves to represent nature. The latter was preserved in the ice and slowly, as the ice melts, nature also dies along with it.

Her success and creativity were published in Borneo Bulletin on the 19th May 2010:
